20% more profit during a football match

Football match this evening? In many cases this goes together with pizza or burgers. Online meal delivery platforms such as Glovo and Deliveroo confirm that match days are also the days with extra movement in the kitchens of major US market leaders in particular.

20% more orders on match days

On days when matches are broadcast on television, the consumption of telepizzas increases by up to 20%, according to the multinational in Spain. Especially when it concerns a weekday. “Spaniards order up to 23% more pizzas when matches are played between Monday and Friday,” thus a spokesman for Telepizza, sponsor of LaLiga Santander for the next three years.

The brand will be visible in stadiums, on online platforms and on social media of the competition. “We can ensure that the experience of their customers and our football fans before and after the game is even better,” said Javier Tebas, president of LaLiga, during the presentation of the sponsorship agreement.

Family pizzas and Big Macs

Classics that are often ordered on match evenings are pizza ‘barbecue’ and extra large family pizzas, because many of us prefer to watch football with a group of friends. Burgers are also popular: especially the McDonalds Big Mac. During the last Real Madrid-Barcelona match, 40 Big Macs were sold per minute via online platforms. Most orders are placed in the first half or during the half-time, although after the game is also a popular moment.
